Of Mice and Men: A Conversation Ryan Wilkinson. He's so hot!

The following conversation takes place between George from the book, Of Mice and Men, and Montag from the book Fahrenheit 451.

Montag: I've never had that special someone that I've truly cared about George. Sometimes I really just want that person that I can open up to, share ideas with, and talk to without any worries or repercussions.

George: That's a tough situation Montag. With Lennie's disability, he is solely dependent on me to take care of him. He has to be around me, there's no choice in that.

Montag: Oh I realize that believe me, just that one person that I can compare to and share the same visions though with would be great.

George: You know Montag, I've taken care of Lennie for years. We share the same vision of hopefully one day owning a farm together. At the same time though, I often wonder to myself what life would be like, and I think it would be better, if I didn't have the care-taking responsibilities over Lennie.

Montag: Certainly a valid point yes, but even hearing you saying you think often of what life would be like not taking care of Lennie, it seems as though you're still so devoted and loving towards Lennie from what I've seen. Having that someone be that loving and devoted to me whether it be a friend or even a woman would be outstanding. You've seen Mildred, she doesn't give me the time of day.
George: I can't say I've ever truly witnessed her completely ignoring you or anything though. What do you mean when you say she doesn't give you the time of day?

Montag: She is obsessed with her wall television and her seashell radio, as is the rest of the society. She refuses to have any sort of engaging conversations with me over our marriage or each others feelings about anything.

George: Wow, I guess I didn't realize you had these problems within your relationship Montag.

Montag: Oh that's not even the half of it George. You are aware that she attempted to commit suicide correct?

George: Montag! That's something really serious. Did you do anything about it? There's got to be something that you can do help her.

Montag: She refuses to even acknowledge the fact that she attempted to kill herself. This type of thing is so common where I live. The men who revived simply brought in these tiny simple machines and purified her blood and she was fine in no time. I don't get it George, I just don't get it. Everything is going completely downhill. I'm glad I can at least talk to you and vent to you about the issues I'm dealing with.

George: Clearly she's holding her feelings from you. There's obviously some sort of pain in her life and she just continues to keep it shielded inside of her from everyone else.

Montag:(sobbing like an infant after birth) I regret it so much George. I want a better relationship with my wife. I obviously can't have that. I need that someone I can talk to George. You don't understand. You're a great friend and you listen extremely well, but you've got your own things to attend to with Lennie and working towards owning your farm and what not.

George: (embracing Montag and trying to calm him down) It's okay, it's okay. Everything is going to be okay I assure you. You'll figure things out. In the meantime, I'm here.

Montag: Nothing can fix this! Where I come from, people are so wrapped up in all these things. If you go against these ideas, the government will come after you.
George: Alls I can say is, only time will tell Montag. I really do wish you the best of luck with all this. I’m terribly sorry to hear about it all. I hate to leave to abruptly but I best be getting back to Lenny. I can only leave him for so long before things start to go a rye.

Montag: No, no, I understand George. Maybe I just need to step outside of the box more in this society that I live in. It can’t hurt to try something out of the ordinary right?

George: Certainly not. Just try it. Let me know how things go.

Montag: I will. Take care George.

George: You too Montag.
